Enjoy The Best of Irvine

Life In the City of Irvine

Written by Steven Toroni

Irvine, California is one of the many planned communities across the nation.  While planned cities have seen a resurgence in recent years, the concept has been around since the early European colonization. The idea behind the planned community provides quiet residential quarters while strategically placing restaurants and attractions in close enough proximity to be practical, but far enough to keep peaceful and quiet neighborhoods.

For students who just moved to the area, they may feel like they are trapped in a real-life Pleasantville universe. The 1998 American movie takes place in the 1950’s in a community where every square of grass is perfectly trim and every person is well groomed. Irvine, as a planned community, seems like the modern-day version of the pristine town as it offers beautiful landscaping and quiet, smoothly paved roads to travel for your commute. While these roads are long and can be quite re-occurring throughout the town, they do lead to some pretty cool stuff to do that is perfect for a quick afternoon escape or a night out.

Check out these fun things to do in Irvine:

William R. Mason Regional Park

This park is almost 339 acres wide which includes a nine-acre lake. The lake is used for many recreational activities such as boating, kayaking, fishing, and swimming. Soccer, football, frisbee, softball/baseball and lacrosse can all be played here casually or in an organized fashion.Biking paths line the park and lake allowing bicyclists to enjoy the scenic route that   William R.
